Hi, welcome to my site. In my late 30s I took the plunge to make a complete career u-turn. I had no contacts or experience, but I knew I had the creativity inside me. As an ex-RAF soldier and Police officer, I had no foothold in the creative industry and needed to start from scratch. I also lacked confidence having been late diagnosed with dyslexia and other neurodiversity.
Through word of mouth, I took on the role of ‘Stand-by’ props on productions such as ‘Bridgerton’, ‘Queen Charlotte’ and ‘The Durrells’, as well as many films and advertisements. As much as I enjoy this, I use any free time I have to create diaramas. Ever since being a child, I can recall building miniature sets and the pleasure in being able to add special extras like lights and smoke.
As my wife’s school for neurodiverse families expanded, we both noticed how the children she worked with struggled to find specific, niche toys they could use to relax and role play. So we began exploring and making.
This developed into much bigger diaramas that include very individual marks of interest for the owner (for adults and children!) I love immersing myself in these worlds and knowing that these scenes can be taken into owner’s home. It is so important for mental health to have a place that feels your own, that is safe to explore and investigate, all in your own time. My works are also popular as educational tools and for display.
My great loves are my wife and children, nature, military history, Italian gardens and model making.
